A fire alarm has to work every time, and the law expects you to prove it is maintained. We service fire detection and alarm systems to BS 5839, repair faults quickly, replace end-of-life panels and detectors, and install new addressable and voice alarm systems, with certificates for your fire file.

Fire detection and alarm systems maintained to BS 5839

BS 5839-1 expects a fire alarm system to be inspected and tested by a competent person at least every six months, with every detector and call point tested over the year. Faults left on a panel, detectors past their service life and unrecorded tests all show up at a fire risk assessment or, worse, during a real event.

Our engineers service, repair and install conventional and addressable fire alarm systems from Advanced, Kentec, Gent by Honeywell, Morley-IAS, C-TEC, Ziton and Hochiki, with Apollo and Hochiki detection, and public address and voice alarm systems to BS 5839-8. We also take on systems that have lost their original installer and bring their records up to date.

What a fire alarm service covers

Panel, battery and power supply checks

Testing of detectors, call points and sounders on rotation

Cause and effect checks: doors, dampers, lifts and plant shutdowns

Remote signalling and monitoring tests

Logbook entries and BS 5839 certificate

Faults quoted on the day for repair

Replacements that keep cover in place

When a panel is obsolete or detectors have reached the end of their life, we plan the replacement in phases so the building is never without detection, and we commission and certify the new system before the old one is removed. Emergency lighting is usually tested on the same visit, and every service and repair is logged in Simpro with certificates sent to your fire file.

We maintain fire alarm systems in courts, schools, offices and public buildings across London, the South East, East Anglia and the Midlands.
